Live Donor Toolkit: Resources for Those Considering Live Donation

Living Organ Donor Costs Worksheet

This worksheet will help you figure out how much money you might spend to be a living donor, and how much money you might need to raise through grants or fundraising. You can do this worksheet on your own, with your family, or with your donor social worker at your transplant center. This worksheet covers 2 months, which should cover most or all of your recovery time.

What do I do with this information?

If your total costs are more than your total income, you have a financial need. You may be able to get help for some donation costs and bills from grants and fundraising. To learn more about this, read the rest of this booklet or speak with your donor social worker at your transplant center.

Some employers also offer short-term disability that will help cover some of your lost wages. To learn about this benefit, speak with your human resources person or union rep.
